I'm okay. My minor meltdown is over.
A few of you may have seen my over dramatic post yesterday begging all of you to become my virtual decorators because I was feeling defeated and had lost all hope for our living room. Then I realized that was stupid and deleted that post and all negativity.
So, today is day #1 of positive thinking, no matter what gets thrown my way.
I'm starting here. Inspiration.
I found this picture and think it serves as good inspiration for the room. Not so much with the overall look, but rather in the layering of textures and casual elements with a not-so-casual sofa.
I've decided to order the West Elm Jute Boucle rug in Ivory. My hope is that it will tone down the overdressed tweed and set the tone for a comfy and not so stuffy living space. Once this arrives, I'll get a better idea on other pieces i'll need to achieve the overall feel of the space...
So until then, what do ya'll think?

Sounds like a great plan :)

I think its a great idea to start with something neutral and then work your way from there. I have a rug like the one you picked out and I love it. I have also been playing around on Polyvore and doing some inspiration boards. Sometimes they helps me see things a little clearer.
