february + march in review

Since I've been a bit MIA lately - I figure, what better way to catch up than with a little review on life? February was hectic and March flew by even faster.  Zach started the Fire Academy and I've been on the road. While I've been nonstop packing bags and lunches, Z is up at 3:45 and out the door by 4 for long days out at the academy. We both race home to get the night started unpacking gear and coolers, washing dishes, making dinner, packing lunches, more dishes, dessert, laundry, ironing and if all goes as planned, Z is in bed by 9. It's a grind - but it's our new normal.  Dare I even say we're getting pretty good at it?  Here's to 5 more weeks - I've never been so proud of Z.  His sacrifice, hard work and determination are paying off and I have no doubt we are exactly where we are supposed to be in this life!

I love doing these month in review posts. It's a nice way to look back and reflect on all that was accomplished, ate, drank and seen.  This month was no different, we kicked off the year with a New Years day family celebration (with obligatory homemade nachos).  From there, I set off to NYC just in time to experience the Polar Vortex.  It was a week full of work, time with old friends, a life changing Soul Cycle experience and flight delays upon flight delays (thank the lord for pedicures at the gate!).  These last few weeks have been low key but productive. It's been sunny here (in the 80s!), I've been catching up on work, blog-keeping, laundry, appointments and spending time with a few old friends. This month Zach finished school and became a certified EMT.  He starts the Fire Academy in February and from there our life will get pretty hectic, so it's been nice to have a few weeks of down time. I'm rejuvenated and so motivated going into February - it's not every month I can say that. Here's to a great month ahead!

December flew by! The holidays snuck up on us this year - but it was almost more fun that way. No stressing about gifts or plans, we didn't have time to. December was a busy month for us - it was our first month out of limbo. Remember this post? We were being brave, we were taking advantage of our youth and testing new waters. Well, then this happened and changed our lives forever. Since then, we've been in limbo. Where to live? Where to work? What do we want out of this life we're living? Plain and simple - what's important? Our answer? Time. We want more time. Together and with the ones we love. Today and in the future. So we've been reprioritizing our lives to align with our goal of time. That meant new careers (for both of us!). Zach has decided to become a Firefighter! And I've started a new job doing Brand Development for a local jewelry company. A lot came together this month and we can finally say we're on the other side of what seemed like endless hard decisions. So thats what's been going on behind the scenes, all whilst snuggling a lot with Luca, weekend road trips, weekday business trips, holiday decorating, a white Christmas in Vail and a fun New Years Eve spent with friends. I'm excited to see what 2014 has in store for us! Follow along on Instagram @brittanythomasreynolds!

november in review

Before I can completely grasp that it is already December, we better review November! Some months seem more action packed than others and November was undoubtedly one. Full of change and lots to remember, we moved yet again, Zach started school full time, we celebrated our first wedding anniversary, I chopped my hair, we took a trip to The Parker in Palm Springs, I landed a new (and exciting!) job and we closed the month giving thanks along with our extended family. Lots to remember and I love taking a look back at the close of each month to see all that has changed and been accomplished.  To follow along, follow me on Instagram @brittanythomasreynolds.

give thanks

Today I am thankful. Thankful for family. The kind you'd pick even if you didn't have to. For health. Healthy bodies, healthy minds and healthy relationships. For faith. The kind that supersedes all else. And excitement. Excitement for today and for tomorrow and all it holds.

Happy Thanksgiving! May the attitude of gratitude consume you this holiday season!

celebrating our first anniversary

This year was all about us. We each resolved to make each other our number one focus. We spent quality time together. Enjoyed the simple things. Friday night dinners, sunset drinks, went on little adventures (and a few big ones), we moved, experienced loss, experienced life, in many ways we're starting over again this year. But one thing remains so comforting and true, we have each other. I can't wait to see what this life and this love brings us, but until then, we'll celebrate today and one year of utter and complete bliss!

Celebrate with us! We're poppin' champs and getting teary eyed reliving our big day watching this all day!

travel diary: new dubai

As the name would suggest, New Dubai is quite the opposite of Old Dubai.  While Old Dubai was filled with culture, history and exotic locations, New Dubai was an entirely new experience filled with affluence, excess and luxury.

We spent our second day in Dubai at the center of it all, the Burj Khalifa.  Standing 2,716.5 feet tall, it is 1,263 feet taller than the Empire State Building.  Currently the tallest building in the world, the Burj was a site to be seen.  Although we had seen it in our days prior, up-close and in person, it seemed make-believe along the desert skyline where there are no competitors in size.  I would've sworn it was a hologram, it's that surreal.

We took elevators to the landing deck to check out the view from above.  You could see for miles and miles.  The form of Palm Island, the World islands, the hotels and homes and malls and highways and even off into the bare and desolate desert.  It was a sight to be seen.

Just as our first day in Dubai was all about experiencing the culture of the old city, our second day was all about experiencing the luxury of the new city.  So we treated ourselves to dinner at the Armani Ristorante within the Burj.  It was an extraordinary experience full of luxury, impeccable service and what we now refer to as the best meal of our lives! It was the perfect end to our quick stop in Dubai and the perfect amount of time to explore the city (both new and old) before jetting off to relax under the hot Indian sun.

If you missed our day in Old Dubai, check it out!
